We invite researchers and practitioners to participate in a combined event: the 14th International Conference on Advanced Systems in Public Transport (CASPT), being held in conjunction with the 4th International Workshop on Research and Applications on the Use of Passive Data from Public Transport (TRANSIT DATA). The combined event will be held on 23-25 July 2018 in Brisbane, Australia.

CASPT is an opportunity for you to showcase recent research and applications in advanced systems in public transport. The conference, dating back to 1980, was most recently held in Rotterdam in 2015 and is now coming to Australia. The focus of the conference is on methods for public transport service and operations planning, including the following topics: Network and route planning Vehicle and crew scheduling and rostering Operations planning Vehicle monitoring and management Practical experience with scheduling and transport planning methods

TRANSITDATA highlights the use of passive data sources from public transport: automated fare collection, vehicle location (GPS), passenger counting, and related systems. The series brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss methods to analyse these data and to develop innovative applications to improve public transport services. Topics include: Tools for data management and analysis Multi-modal operations and service planning Operations monitoring and control Demand analysis Customer experience and traveller behaviour at the disaggregate level

>> Abstract and paper submission will be managed through Easychair. We particularly invite abstracts and papers that cross disciplines, covering both service planning and operations supply models, as well as creative uses of existing automated data sources. We welcome contributions in methods, applications and case studies.

>> Important Dates: Extended Abstract Submission: 15 December 2017 (up to 1000 words) Notification on Abstracts: 31 January 2018 Full Paper Submission: 15 May 2018 Early Bird Registration: 15 May 2018 Discounted registration will be offered for students. More details on registration will be posted to the conference website (

We have also to warmly thank the members of the local Organizing Committee,

  • Domokos Esztergar-Kiss, International Project Coordinator of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering
  • Tamas Matrai, Research Assistant of the Department of Transport Technology and Economy
  • Janos Toth, head of the Department of Transport Technology and Economy
  • Istvan Varga, Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering
  • the Undergraduate and Graduate students of the Department of Transport Technology and Economy and of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering.

All of us have appreciated very much their great and efficient efforts in realizing a successful event both from the scientific and social point of view. Thank you very much.

I think we can claim without any doubts that the level of the works presented in these days has been very good; many subjects have been debated in a profitable way.

We have to give our thanks to the authors and also to all the reviewers that have contributed for selecting a so good set of works.

We have also to thank the keynote speakers László Sándor KERÉNYI, Jonas ELIASSON and Francesco VITI for their contribution to the Conference.

7th International Symposium on Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA)

The 7th International Symposium on Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA): Smart Transportation

Hong Kong 6-8 June, 2018

Jointly organized by Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Institute of Transport Studies, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and The Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS) < >

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 7th International Symposium on Dynamic Traffic Assignment in Hong Kong, 6-8 June, 2018. This Symposium aims to foster excellence in dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) research and practice, and provide a forum for exchanging innovative ideas and challenges on DTA and related transportation science research problems. The theme of this Symposium is smart transportation. Nowadays, in order to provide smooth traffic flow, high degree of safety and sustainable urban environment, smart transportation systems become popular. The systems include the integrated application of advanced management strategies and emerging technology. Such evolution can enhance the current transportation systems and come out positive in benefit-cost analyses. The systems are considered to be essential especially in addressing the challenges of complex matrix within smart cities. The DTA theory together with the latest technology, such as autonomous and electric vehicles, APPs, and GPS, are important ingredients towards the development of a smart city. Hong Kong is one of the cities moving towards this direction. This Symposium will attract international scholars to share their latest finding on DTA with local practitioners and academics to encourage the development of Hong Kong to be a leading smart city with more competitive advantages to adjacent cities, and eventually to make a positive impact on Hong Kong society. Practitioners and academics are cordially invited to share their knowledge, experience and insights on the design, analytics, investigations, analysis, planning, operation, engineering, co-ordination and management of smart transport systems, taking into account the time-varying characteristics of travel demand and supply and the interdisciplinary nature of the subject. The Symposium will last three full days (from Wednesday to Friday).

The technical program may include plenary sessions, paper presentations, and interactive sessions.

For details, please visit the conference website at:
